The Autumn Malvern Show
Recently, I attended the Autumn Malvern show which was full to the brim with colour, food, music, and plants.
On display was a large range of flower compositions with a cottage design theme. One of my favourite flowers from the displays was the Echinacea 'Tequila sunrise'; which petals faded from a bright pinkish red to a vibrant yellow. It had very structural petals and the bright colours acted as a focal point for the displays paired with daisies and grasses to juxtapose the flowers.
There was also a large number of Bonsai trees dating back to the 1800s, tentatively cared for a pruned to reach the desired outcome. I find this practise to be very inspiring as to reach the height of some of these bonsais takes hundreds of years showing the fourth dimension of design ; time.
Personally, I have a love for all flowers and plants as there is a use for everything. Architectural plants that are bold, provide focal points and an interesting feature. Softer, daintier looking plants can be paired with many similar or contrasting plants to create a garden or feature and are just as important.
