Roberto Burle Marx

Above is an aerial photograph of the mineral roof garden, created in 1983 on Banco Safra headquarters, São Paulo by the Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx.

I chose this piece as the colours and composition really drew me into this piece. The use of natural earthy colours and organic forms works to create a really eye-catching roof garden. The white highlights the shape of the artwork and creates a juxtaposition to the other colours in the piece. The flooring really shapes the trees in the design as it curves around them and draws attention and creates a focal point of the design.
